Çigdem Özkara (Turkey)

Graduated from Bursa, Uludag University,  Medical Faculty in 1984, worked in different cities in Anatolia for compulsory service for two years and completed neurology training in Bakirkoy State Hospital for Neurological and Psychiatric disorders in 1991. After receiving  William G. Lennox  International Clinical Research Fellowship  provided by American Epilepsy Foundation (EFA), worked  in University of Virginia, Comprehensive Epilepsy Center in 1991-92. Later stayed as visiting professor in UCLA-Epilepsy center in 1996. Achieved associate professorship in 1996 and full professorship in  2002 at Istanbul University . Since then working at Istanbul University, Cerrahpasa Medical School, department of Neurology, Epilepsy - EEG section and running an epilepsy outpatient clinic and Epilepsy Surgery program.  Served for Turkish Epilepsy Society as secretary and president and ILAE  as member of different commissions and EUREPA and secretary for European commission. Published many papers on epilepsy in national and international journals and wrote chapters for epilepsy books. Involved in organization of many national and international meetings and participated in projects including an EU project namely EPICURE. She was awarded as “ambassador for epilepsy “ in 2009. Married with two daughters.
